General

Pool Policies

All persons use the pool at their own risk. Management is not responsible for accidents, injuries, or loss of personal property.

The pool is closed when lifeguards are not on duty. Entry into the water is strictly prohibited at that time.

The lifeguard on duty is the final authority in all matters relating to pool safety and operations.

The pool may be closed at any time due to weather, maintenance, or safety concerns.

Lifeguard Rules & Safety Regulations

Supervision & Children

1. Parents or responsible guardians must watch their children closely whenever they are near or in the water, regardless of age or swimming ability.
2. No children under 12 years of age are permitted in the pool area without a parent or responsible guardian 16 years or older.
3. Parent/guardian must maintain visual contact and control of children at all times.
4. A parent/guardian 16+ must remain within arm’s reach of any individual with a known medical or physical condition that could place them at risk.

Swim Test Requirements

5. Children age 12 and older who wish to swim without a parent/guardian must pass a swim test administered by the pool manager or lifeguard.
6. The swim test includes:
– Swimming the length of the pool
– Treading water for one minute
7. Those who do not pass must remain in shallow water and have a parent/guardian present.

Water Safety Rules

8. No prolonged underwater swimming, breath-holding, or related games.
9. No playing around pool drains.
10. Diving wells are restricted to diving only; swimming in this area is prohibited.
11. No diving in shallow areas.

Behavior & Conduct

12. Running, horseplay, pushing, tag, or ball playing is not permitted in the pool, on the deck, or in locker rooms.
13. Fighting, violent acts, or unsafe behavior will result in immediate removal. Police may also be called, if warranted.
14. No abusive or profane language is permitted.

Emergency Procedures

15. The emergency signal is three whistle blasts.
16. Upon hearing the signal, all swimmers must immediately exit the pool.

Prohibited Items & Substances

17. Alcoholic beverages and intoxicated persons are not permitted.
18. No glass containers of any kind are allowed in the pool area.

Lifeguard Operations

19. Lifeguards may clear the pool periodically, typically 10–15 minutes per hour, for rest, cleaning, or safety checks.
20. Patrons must remain out of the water until permission is given to re-enter.
21. Do not distract lifeguards while they are on duty. Speak only when they are off stand.
22. The lifeguard has full authority to enforce all rules and ensure safety.

Flotation Devices

23. Flotation devices are generally permitted; however, the lifeguard may require their removal at any time if they create visual obstructions or interfere with safe supervision of the pool.
24. Only U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets are permitted.
25. Exception: Individuals requiring flotation for a disability must notify the Pool Manager upon each visit.

Guests

26. Members age 18 or older may bring up to two guests unless otherwise approved.
27. Members are responsible for the behavior and safety of their guests.

Attire & Personal Items

28. Appropriate swimwear is required at all times.
29. Radios or music devices must be kept at a reasonable volume and away from the pool edge.

Pool Closure Rule

30. If no lifeguard is present, the pool is officially closed, and no one may enter the water under any circumstances.

Enforcement

Lifeguards and management have full authority to enforce all rules.

Violations may result in:

  • Immediate removal from the pool
  • Suspension or revocation of pool privileges
